International Women's Day workshop: March 8 & 9

Truth and Reconciliation from a woman’s perspective

Truth and Reconciliation will be the focus of an International Women’s Day workshop presented by HSA’s Women’s Committee in March.

HSA is committed to work towards fostering a new relationship between indigenous and non-indigenous Canadians in accordance with the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s report. This workshop will examine the legacy of colonial policies in Canada from a woman’s perspective. The work to implement these recommendations requires an understanding of the broader and systemic issues that affect indigenous women’s equality.

Members are encouraged to apply for the two-day workshop on March 8 & 9, 2017.   Workshop participants will attend the Vancouver and District Labour Council IWD Dinner Celebrating Women on Wednesday evening, a not-to-be missed evening of speakers and entertainment.

Participants will receive wage replacement, accommodations (shared) and travel expenses in accordance with HSA policy. HSA is pleased to host this workshop in conjunction with a skilled facilitator from the BC Teachers’ Federation Aboriginal education program.
