The next HSA Annual Convention will take place April 18-20, 2013 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.

Annual convention is the union's annual meeting where chapter representatives from around the province determine the union's future direction. Policies, actions, constitutional amendments, and structural changes are all discussed and debated at convention.

Members who have specific issues that they want to raise at convention are encouraged to attend their local chapter meeting. Resolutions must be endorsed by the chapter before they are sent to the HSA office for inclusion in the Annual Report.

The Annual Report is published in March and will be available on-line only, with a limited supply to be printed for use at the annual convention.

April 18 – Plenary begins 1:00 pm
April 19 – 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
April 20 – 8:30 am – 4:00 pm

The deadline for receipt of resolutions in the office is 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. To ensure your chapter resolutions are forwarded to convention, please submit resolutions before the final deadline, as late resolutions are not considered.

Please note that proposed changes to the collective agreement are dealt with at the Bargaining Proposal Conferences, held before the expiry of HSA collective agreements. Bargaining proposals are not accepted as convention resolutions.

Convention forms the basis of the union's decision-making process. Each individual member has an important role to play in determining HSA's objectives and goals for the next year. Please attend your chapter meeting and participate in this vital part of the union's democratic process.

All HSA members are welcome to attend and speak at the convention. However, only delegates have the right to vote.

For chapters with up to and including 49 members, the HSA chief steward is the sole delegate. If the chief steward is not attending, an alternate should be identified. Chapters with over 49 members are entitled to elect an additional delegate for every 50 members or portion thereof.
