2024 International Women's Day Workshop: Women in Leadership – Validating, Celebrating and Strategizing
Each year, the HSA Women’s Committee marks International Women’s Day with a workshop to explore issues impacting those in the union who identify as women. This workshop is open to members who identify as women and gender-diverse members.
Date: March 7, 2024
Time: 9:00 am to 4:30 pm
Location: Virtual – Zoom details to follow
We will begin the day by providing a supported opportunity to share frustrations, anger, and disappointments in a way that ensures participants feel validated. This will provide an enhanced ability to name experiences related to systems of oppression such as patriarchy, racism, ableism, and more. We will move on to celebrating our strengths, our accomplishments, and our collective brilliance. The day will then focus on how we can build a better world for those who come after us.
This strategizing session will focus on supporting women and gender-diverse people who are bravely taking on leadership positions in our communities. It will involve a discussion hosted by Hummingbirds Rising.
Attendees will leave the session with:
- An understanding of our shared experiences in relationship to larger systems of oppression.
- A sense of accomplishment and pride in what we have done together.
- Inspiration ideas of how to support women and gender minorities in leadership in the coming year.
