BC Federation of Labour health and safety courses
take a health and safety course
The BC Federation of Labour's Occupational Health and Safety Centre is now offering the basic course worker representatives and health and safety committee members need to be effective, as well as advanced courses on specific topics.
These courses meet the criteria for the eight-hour annual educational leave you are entitled to under the law. Your wages and reasonable course fees must be paid by your employer.
Of particular interest to new committee members or worker reps, the basic course covers the OH&S Regulation, OH&S programs, safety inspections, accident investigations, safety committees and refusing unsafe work.
For more information and future course dates, contact the Federation at 604-430-1421 (toll-free 1-888-223-5669), check out the website, or e-mail @email. Private sessions are available - please call to arrange. The Occupational Health and Safety Centre is funded by WorkSafeBC.
N O T E If you are taking any of these courses as your annual leave entitlement, you must arrange this through your health and safety committee and your employer before you register.
