Applications for professional development fund for HSPBA members again available

HSA announces the second round for applications for professional development funding achieved in bargaining for the 2012-2014 HSPBA collective agreement is now open.

The $225,000 Professional Development Fund is accessible for all HSPBA members, including HSA members, over the term of the collective agreement.

“Professional development has long been a priority for health science professionals, and this was an important achievement in the last round of bargaining. I encourage members to apply to this fund, as it is money that was negotiated for members who are committed to keeping current in an ever advancing modern health care team,” said Val Avery, HSA President and Chair of the bargaining committee that achieved the funding.

HSA will cover the cost of tuition, fees, books and travel expenses for courses, programs, or conferences to a maximum of $1,000 for professional development taken during the of October 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014.

The deadline for applications is March 31, 2014. More details about the application process, funding criteria and deadlines can be found here.

The first round of professional development funding with the deadline date of September 30, 2013 has now been completed. Applications have been reviewed and successful applicants wil be informed by letter by mid-October.
