Basic Steward Training - June 2024

Basic Steward Training (three-day workshop)
Date: June 3-5, 2024 – Virtual via Zoom

Time: 9am - 4:30pm PST each day

Stewards play a vital role in the union. This introductory workshop provides an overview of the structure and departments of your union, and your role and responsibilities as a steward. New stewards will learn skills to enable you to serve confidently in this role within the structure of HSA. Workshop content includes the role of the steward, organizing your chapter, grievance handling, steward resources, using the portal, and basic contract interpretation.

Basic Steward Training is for General Stewards, Lead Stewards, and Assistant Lead Stewards, and you must be an elected steward to register. Stewards must commit to attending three consecutive days.

This workshop is a prerequisite for Facing Management, Lead and Assistant Lead Steward Training, and other steward training HSA offers.

Participants will receive wage replacement and pre-approved dependent care costs for virtual workshops in accordance with HSA Policy. No meal per diems will be provided.
