BCIT Cardiac Sonography Advanced Program – Application Deadline Extended for HSA members

The program head for sonography at BCIT is inviting working technologists to apply for a one-year advanced program to re-train into cardiac sonography.

Pre-requisites for the program include:

•  Two-year diploma in Cardiology Technology, Medical Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or General Sonography and:

• Active professional certification from the registering body (e.g. CSCT, CAMRT, Sonography Canada, ARDMS)

This is an opportunity for working HSA professionals to re-train in a new modality in a shortened time frame.  The program is just one year total: 5 months at BCIT followed by 7 months of clinical within BC.  BCIT arranges the clinical portion. The program is fully accredited through Accreditation Canada, and students can write the Sonography Canada board exam upon completion of the program.

This is not a health authority sponsored program.  Applicants must apply, meet minimum pre-requisite requirements, and pay their own tuition. Interested applicants are encouraged to review HSA Scholarships and Bursaries, and Professional Development and apply for all relevant funding when applications open.

The deadline to apply is July 31, however BCIT will extend the deadline for any HSA professional who is interested.
