CESA supports members participation in the Remembrance Day Teach-in: Ninety Years After -The War to End All Wars"
Call for delegates
To celebrate the International Day of Peace on September 21, the Committee on Equality and Social Action is calling on members to apply for support to attend the Remembrance Day Teach-In being developed by the World Peace Forum Society.
Ninety Years After -The War to End All Wars" will take place at the Maritime Labour Centre in Vancouver between November 8 & 11. The World Peace Forum Society wants to use the anniversary of the end of the First World War to raise the parallels between that war and the wars of today. Many are not familiar with the extraordinary effort made to prevent and oppose that war and to build a world based on economic and social justice.
Events are planned for November 8, 9 and 11. A draft agenda is available below. Additional information is available at www.worldpeaceforumbc.ca.
HSA will be providing financial support to members who are interested in attending the teach-in. Funding is available for registration, childcare, transportation, meals, and up to one days wage loss, associated with attendance at the conference.
Interested members should complete the application form and return it to the HSA Office (Attention: Karin Herbert). Mail, fax or e-mail your application as soon as possible, but by October 17 at the latest. HSA will contact applicants to advise them if their application has been accepted.
Deadline for applications: Friday, October 17, 2008
