Congratulations to new leadership at BC Federation of Labour

Delegates to the 56th convention of the BC Federation of Labour have elected Irene Lanzinger as President. She is the first woman to ever hold the position.

Lanzinger was  the Federation's secretary-treasurer for the past four years and is a past president of the BC Teachers' Federation. She is a high school math and science teacher in Vancouver.

Aaron Ekman was elected to the position of Secretary-Treasurer.

Ekman is the founding president of the North Central Labour Council and is a staff person with the BCGEU.

The BC Federation of Labour represents over 500,000 members from affiliated unions across the province, working in every aspect of the BC economy. It has a long and proud history of fighting for the rights of all working people for a safe workplace and fair wages.

HSA extends its congratulations to Lanzinger and Ekman, and expresses thanks to outgoing President Jim Sinclair -- a strong and passionate leader of working poeple in BC for the past 15 years at BC Federation of Labour.
