Election of president, 'Inconvenient Truth' on agenda for Health Sciences Association 36th annual convention
The Health Sciences Association of BC (HSA) will kick off its 36th annual convention Friday, April 20 at the Fairmont Vancouver Hotel in Vancouver.
Proud of our Past; Ready for the Future is the theme of this years convention, which will feature the election of a new president for the union, as Cindy Stewart, president of HSA for the past 14 years, will not be seeking re-election. Eight candidates have declared their candidacy for the position.
HSA is also pleased to host keynote speaker Vancity CEO Dave Mowat, one of only 19 Canadians who has been trained to present Al Gores ‘Inconvenient Truth presentation. HSA is the only union audience that will receive the presentation.

Friday, April 20
- 9:30 a.m. Cindy Stewart, President of the Health Sciences Association of BC
- 11:00 a.m. Jim Sinclair, President of the BC Federation of Labour
- 2:30 p.m. Dave Mowat, CEO Vancity, in his only presentation of the ‘Inconvenient Truth presentation to a labour organization
Saturday, April 21
- 9:00 a.m. Election of President
- 1:15 p.m. James Clancy, President of National Union of Public and General Employees
Media registration will take place in the Crystal Ballroom Foyer. Convention proceedings begin at 9:00 am daily.
