Fraser Health Authority to lay off Registered Psychiatric Nurses, RNs

Fraser Health Authority announced last week that it is reducing the number of Registered Psychiatric Nurses and RNs caring for seniors in residential care.

FHA is laying off approximately a dozen Registered Psychiatric Nurses, among more than 100 nurses to be laid off in FHA-owned and -operated facilities.

The FHA layoffs affect RPNs and RNs at these sites:

• Maple Ridge: Baillie House Unit 1 & 2
• Fellburn Centre
• Eagle Ridge Manor
• Chilliwack: Bradley Care Centre
• Chilliwack: Heritage Village
• Abbotsford: Cottage
• Abbotsford: Worthington
• Delta: Mountain View Manor (N & S)
• Surrey: Carelife Fleetwodd (2nd floor, Alder/Arbutus, Birch, Willow)
• Langley: Marwood South / Rosewood
• Langley: Marwood Centre
• Maple Hill / Cedar Hill
• Mission Memorial: Dr. Stuart Pavilion

HSA participated in Nurses Bargaining Association negotiations for a labour adjustment plan for RPNs and RNs affected by these layoffs. The plan contains early retirement incentives, job fairs, and enhancements to the displacement process.

The labour adjustment plan will help retain RPNs and RNs in FHA and mitigate the impact of layoffs.

This agreement does not apply to FHA-funded affiliate residential facilities.
