Greenwood steps down as HSA Region 4 director
Laura Greenwood, who was elected to the HSA Board of Directors as Region 4 Director in 2025, is stepping away from the Board of Directors effectively immediately.
“It is with mixed emotions that I write to you all today to let you know that I have made the difficult decision to resign from the role of regional director for region 4, effective immediately.
This organization has contributed extensively to my personal and professional development, and I am ever so grateful for the opportunities it has given me and the connections I have made with you all. I hope and believe that my work over the years, on behalf of all of you, has contributed to the development of HSA as much as it has my own.
At this time, it has become clear to me that to protect my well-being and lead a healthy and balanced life, something must give, and I regret that it must be this. The role of regional director is huge and each of your board of directors commits an exceptional amount of time to this work. Time away from their workplaces and families. For me, at this stage of my life it is unfortunately not manageable.
To the members who voted for me, I recognize that I may be disappointing you with this news. I am sorry. I thank you endlessly for your support and confidence in me.
To all members, your voice matters and your work matters. I urge you not to let the chaos of our scary world divide us. We are the frontline of health care and community social services and together, I know we will protect our health care system and other public services in this province and country.
To serve as your regional director, even for a short time, has been a privilege and I thank you for the opportunity. Please know that I remain steadfast in my values and continuing our work together to strengthen our collective agreement and build safe and respectful workplaces for all.
I look forward to seeing you all again soon."
