HEU issues 72-hour strike notice in dispute for first agreement with Sodexho

HSA today received notice that the Hospital Employees' Union has issued 72-hour strike notice against Sodexho. The parties have been bargaining for a first collective agreement since March 11.

The earliest potential for job action is Thursday, Sept. 15. Because of orders issued by the Labour Relations Board, HSA and other union members will not be affected by picket lines, except that access to the worksite will be through designated entrances.

HSA stewards will be contacted with detailed information about how HSA members are to get to work in the event of picket line activity related to the dispute between HEU and Sodexho. Please watch for information on the HSA bulletin board or website at www.hsabc.org

HEU members affected in the dispute provide cleaning, dietary and other health support services at a number of hospitals and care facilities in the Lower Mainland, on the Sunshine Coast, and on Vancouver Island.

The affected facilities are: Eagle Ridge Hospital, Mission General Hospital, MSA General Hospital, Rosewood Manor, Foyer Maillard, Central Care Home, Cedarview Lodge, Dogwood Manor, George Pearson Centre, GF Strong Centre, Squamish Hospital/Hilltop, Holy Family Hospital, Kiwanis Care Centre, Lions Gate Hospital Minoru Residence, Mount St. Joseph Hospital, Olive Devaud Residence, German Canadian, Powell River General Hospital, Richmond Hospital, Richmond Lions Manor, Shorncliffe Care Home, St. Mary's Hospital/Totem, St. Paul's Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital - Brock Fahrni Pav., St Vincent's Hospital - Langara Site, VGH - Main Campus, VGH - HR and Banfield Pavillion, VGH - Eye Care Centre, UBC Hospital, Youville Residence.
