HSA Annual Convention set for April 28 – 30; Deadline for resolutions is February 18, 2022
Preparations are underway for the 2022 HSA Annual Convention, to be held in-person over three days in Vancouver from Thursday, April 28 to Saturday, April 30.
However, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the union’s Board of Directors will monitor the situation and may shift to an online convention format over the same three days. The last two annual conventions, in November 2020 and June 2021, as well as Bargaining Proposal Conferences in October and November 2021, were all conducted online.
The deadline for submitting resolutions for consideration at the April convention is Friday, February 18, 2022. All resolutions must be voted on at local union chapters. HSA chapter meetings will be held over the next several weeks. All members are encouraged to propose resolutions, and participate in the democratic process of setting the union’s course. Resolutions are also proposed by the union’s board of directors.
Members who have specific issues that they want to raise at convention are encouraged to participate in their local chapter meeting. Resolutions must be voted on and approved by members of the local chapter before they are submitted to the union’s Resolutions Committee, which includes member representation from each of HSA’s 10 regions. Resolutions forwarded to convention will be available on the HSA website in late March for members to review.
The deadline for receipt of resolutions in the HSA office is midnight on Friday, February 18, 2022. Late resolutions will not be accepted.
Please note that proposed changes to collective agreements are dealt with at Bargaining Proposal Conferences, held before the expiry of HSA collective agreements. Resolutions deemed to be bargaining proposals are not accepted.
