HSA marks National Nursing Week with launch of new professional development fund for HSA’s registered psychiatric nurses

Health Sciences Association of BC announced today the establishment of a $115,000 Professional Development Fund available to all registered psychiatric nurses who are members of HSA.

“Registered psychiatric nurses are critical members of the health care team. HSA recognizes the importance of continuing education for health care professionals who deliver important care in a specialized field of nursing,” said HSA President Val Avery.

"By creating this fund, your union is playing an active role in the continued development of skills and tools members need to meet the changing and challenging practice of psychiatric nursing,” she said.

Funds may be used to cover professional development courses and events. HSA will cover the cost of tuition, registration fees, related travel expenses, books and materials related to professional development to a maximum of $1000 per application.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the fund is depleted.

The application form and fund guidelines are available on the HSA website here.
