HSA members re-elect Val Avery as Region 2 Director
HSA members in Region 2 have elected Val Avery to a third term as their representative on the unions Board of Directors. Val is a physiotherapist at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria.
The other candidate for election was Derrick Hoyt, a pathologists assistant at Royal Jubilee Hospital.
During the past four years, Val has served on HSAs Run for the Cure Committee and Bargaining Committee, and as a Long Term Disability Trustee. Val has also been elected by the HSA board to serve 3 consecutive terms as HSAs Vice-President.
In her position as Vice-President, Val currently chairs the Presidential Issues Committee and Resolutions Committee for HSAs convention. She also sits as HSAs representative on the board of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (BC-Yukon Division).
Val also co-chairs the Bargaining Committee that is currently negotiating a new collective agreement for the Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association.
