HSA members urged to participate in consultation to improve services for people with disabilities
The BC Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation is coordinating a consultation to determine how to remove barriers and increase accessibility for people with disabilities in British Columbia.
The process includes a series of in-person community consultation sessions around the province scheduled from January 20 to the end of February. Dates, locations and times are listed here.
Members can go to this site to learn more about the consultation process, to register to participate in an in-person consultation session in your community, and to submit your ideas using the online form until March 11. Input from this consultation will form the basis for a white paper that will be shared at a provincial summit in June 2014.
Many HSA members work directly with patients or clients with disabilities in acute, residential and community care. Our members work with children with special needs in child development centres, provide mental health and addiction services, and work in a range of agencies that provide specialized employment and other services for persons with disabilities. We encourage you to use your experience and expertise to contribute to this important consultation.
