HSA offers election campaign school
HSA is holding a 2-day, non-partisan election campaign school for members who are interested in working on election campaigns or running for political office. The school will discuss opportunities for HSA members to be involved in municipal elections scheduled for the fall of 2011, as well as a likely federal election and possible provincial election in 2011.
If you want to help elect representatives who will support public health care and community social services, or are considering running for elected office, then HSAs election campaign school is for you!
Campaign School Dates: Thursday & Friday, February 24 & 25, 2011
Location: HSA Office, 300 - 5118 Joyce Street, Vancouver
This workshop is designed for HSA members with little or no experience in electoral politics, and will discuss the various roles that HSA members can play during the pre-election and election periods. Workshop topics will include:
• The nomination process & nomination campaigns
• Overview of election campaigns
• Campaign positions (who does what)
• How to get involved
• How HSA can support members to run or work in elections.
Nomination campaigns and election planning is well underway in some areas, but there will still be many opportunities for HSA members to get involved. Come to HSAs election campaign school to find out how you can make a difference in your community.
Interested members should complete the attached application form and return it to the HSA Office (Attention: Karin Herbert). Mail or fax your registration forms as soon as possible, and by Monday, February 7, 2011 at the latest (Education Fax: 604-419-5195 in the Lower Mainland or 1-800-663-6119 for out-of-town). HSA will call you to confirm your registration.
