HSA offers scholarships for Summer Institute for Union Women

The Summer Institute for Union Women (SIUW) is a 4-day residential school designed to empower women as leaders in the labour movement through participatory education and community-building.
Participants will work on:
- Envisioning labor’s future in the global economy
- Discussing priorities for working women
- Developing new ways of organizing
- Holding elected leaders accountable
Hosted by the Washington State Labor Education & Research Center (South Seattle Community College) and sponsored by the United Association for Labor Education, the University of Washington Harry Bridges Center for Labor Studies, the University of Oregon Labor Education and Research Center and the Washington State Labor Council Women's Committee.
The Summer Institute for Union Women is a regional initiative supported by unions and allied organizations throughout California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, and Hawaii. The Institute rotates around the region each year. We welcome participation regardless of race, creed, religion, ethnicity, color, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, or immigrant status
HSA provides scholarships for members interested in participating in the four-day institute. Scholarships include registration fees, transportation, accommodation, dependent care and wage replacement. In addition, HSA supports the participation of daughters of HSA members by sponsoring a scholarship to attend the Summer Institute for Union Women. If your daughter is interested please complete the on-line registration called 2013 Summer Institute for Union Women (Daughters) on her behalf.
If you would like to apply for an HSA scholarship, please use the on-line registration by logging into the HSA website, select 'Events' then 'Full Calendar' from the dropdown menu, select 'Summer Institute' from either the calendar or 'Education and Training Workshops' on the right.
