HSA offers scholarships for Summer Institute for Union Women June 25 – 28, 2023 University of Oregon, Portland USA
The Western Regional Summer Institute for Union Women will take place June 25-28, 2023, in Portland, Oregon at the University Place Hotel and Conference Centre. The theme for 2023 is “Seize the Moment, Forward in Unity.” This event is for all cis and trans women, non-binary, queer, questioning, and those who are comfortable in a space that centres our experiences.
SIUW is a comprehensive leadership institute consisting of skills building workshops, cultural activities, and education sessions designed to expand our understanding of solidarity and rebuild connections across our region. The Summer Institute is also a place where women from unions, worker centres, and community organizations encourage each other to step up into leadership in their organizations. It is a space for personal growth and reflection designed to ignite the empowerment of labour and labour-minded women.
HSA provides a limited number of SIUW scholarships covering registration, dependent care, accommodation, wage replacement, and travel. Members who have not been awarded a SIUW scholarship in the past three years are prioritized.
Participants must have a valid passport or other applicable travel document valid until 2024 to enter the United States.
To apply for an HSA scholarship, select ‘create a login’ through the Event Registration and click on the ‘here’ to receive your member ID by email or call the HSA office at 604.517.0994 or 1.800.663.2017 if you do not know your HSA member ID number. Once you have created your login, the Summer Institute will be listed under 'other events' on the event registration list.
