HSPBA Bargaining Update: Ads launch as committee wraps third round of talks

As the bargaining committee for the Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association (HSPBA) completed the third round of negotiations with the Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC) May 20-23, HSA is launching new ads in support of bargaining objectives.

To date, the bargaining committee has tabled more than 50 proposals, each of which is based on specific ideas submitted by members and prioritized in discussions at the fall bargaining proposal conference. Bargaining committee members are working to make progress at both the main table, and in small table discussions focusing on key issue areas.

HSA members elected to serve on the bargaining committee come from a range of professions and bring a diversity of perspective and experience to the discussions, ensuring the needs of all professions are being addressed. The HSPBA joint bargaining committee also includes representatives from BCGEU, CUPE, PEA, and HEU covered by the collective agreement. While the economic landscape is challenging, the committee is dedicated to securing the improvements needed to address critical issues like shortages, fair pay, and improved care for patients and clients.

Bargaining work is set to resume June 9-13.

HSA LAUNCHES AD CAMPAIGN IN SUPPORT OF BARGAINING

On May 26, HSA launched its newest ad province-wide to support the work of the bargaining committee. Follow this link to see the ad.

The ad is being placed strategically to reach audiences critical to the success of our bargaining work. Members of the public will see the ad broadcast on news-hour channels reaching all communities in BC, streamed on Amazon Prime, and delivered through digital targeting that will prioritize people using devices in communities directly adjacent to major health facilities and around the Legislature and government buildings in Victoria.
The ad will be further targeted to Victoria-based decision makers through audio and display versions placed in key podcasts and email newsletters followed by ministerial and political staff.

The ads will run May 26 to July 6. Delegates at HSA’s April convention recently voted in support of increasing the union’s profile through advertising, and further ads will be launched as needed in the later summer and early fall.
