HSPBA Bargaining Update: Progress slows to crawl, time to hear from you

Members urged to share thoughts on strike vote, attend site meetings around BC

After a further week of talks, your bargaining committee remains very disappointed with the lack of progress being made in negotiations. Eight months into the process, the employer has done little to address key priorities for health science professionals struggling with workload, shortages, and waitlists, and has tabled a monetary package that fails to recognize or respect the importance of our work.

Now, it’s time to hear from members like you about how to respond to this situation.

We’re asking all members to do two very important things at this time:

1. Please take two minutes to respond to the very short survey in your email inbox on whether you are prepared to take a strike vote to strengthen the hand of your bargaining committee.

2. Please also plan to attend one of the following in-person meetings in communities across BC. Union negotiators, staff, and bargaining committee members will be at these meetings to provide a full briefing on the state of negotiations and answer your questions. Members who are not able to attend these meetings should plan to participate in telephone town hall meetings that will be scheduled shortly.

Don't worry if you can't make it for one of the scheduled presentations; union staff and bargaining committee members will be available to update members and answer questions between sessions.

You are encouraged to drop into these meetings on your way to or from work, or on your break time. These meetings are not eligible for wage replacement.
