HSPBA Classification Review: Timeline Extension
Last fall, as part of the HSPBA classifications review, HSA members and HSA staff filed profile match objections where they thought that the employer-assigned profile match for a job was incorrect.
Since they were filed, these objections have been moving through the agreed-upon process. The outcome of each objection will be decided by the appointed classification referee (an experienced third-party labour relations practitioner familiar with the new profiled-based classification system).
The original deadline for the conclusion of this process was February 29, 2024. However, due to the high number of profile match objections filed, this deadline has been extended to April 12, 2024 to allow the referee adequate time to review all the objections.
If you filed a profile match objection, you will be informed about the outcome of your objection after the April 12, 2024 deadline.
Your union understands that members are eager to hear the outcome of their objections, and may be disappointed to hear about this extension. We agreed to this extension to allow time for each objection to be thoroughly considered. The new profile-based classification system will not be implemented until later in 2024-2025 (likely closer to February 28, 2025), and this extension will not affect that timeline.
