Important Deadlines for NBA/CBA/CSS Bargaining Proposal Conference
Nominations for elections on your bargaining committee are now being accepted.
With contracts expiring in the spring, HSA members are getting ready for the next round of bargaining, starting with a bargaining proposal conference for all members covered by the Community Bargaining Association (CBA), the Nurses Bargaining Association (NBA), and the Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSS) collective agreements.
Delegates will come together in Vancouver October 29-30 to prioritize bargaining proposals, and they will elect members who want to serve on the bargaining committee for their agreements.
October 3 Deadline for Registration of Delegates to Bargaining Proposal Conference
Delegates to the bargaining proposal conference are designated or elected by their colleagues at chapter meetings. All delegates must register to attend the conference, and the deadline for this is October 3. This is a firm deadline and we are unable to accommodate late registration. You can register through HSA’s event management system. Stewards are reminded to please email Shannon Chartier at schartier [at] hsabc.org with a list of all delegates elected or designated at your worksite so that their registration can be confirmed.
All delegates, once elected or appointed at their local chapter, are reminded to request time off work for these days – if your Employer denies your request, contact your HSA Labour Relations Officer right away for assistance in being released.
Once delegates are registered for the bargaining proposal conference, they should please contact Shannon Chartier at schartier [at] hsabc.org for details on scheduling transportation, accommodations and other logistics. All delegates will be welcome starting at 8:30 am on October 29 for registration and networking, and the conference will begin promptly at 9:00 am.
October 4 Deadline for Submitting Bargaining Proposals
Delegates to the October 29-30 bargaining proposal conference will prioritize and vote on bargaining proposals selected at local chapter meetings. If your chapter has not yet submitted bargaining proposals, be sure to do so before the deadline on October 4. Talk to you steward about the process for doing this. October 21 Deadline for Nominations for Bargaining Committee
Any member can stand for election to be part of the bargaining committee for the collective agreement. If you’d like to run, you must submit a written nomination statement (maximum 250 words) to info [at] hsabc.org. All nominations will be circulated to bargaining proposal conference delegates responsible for electing members to the bargaining committee. Deadline for written nominations is 5 pm, Monday, October 21. Members do not have to be a delegate to the bargaining proposal conference to put their name forward for election as a member of the bargaining committee.
