HSA has been at the bargaining table for seven months working to negotiate a new collective agreement. Talks broke down October 31. After seven months, the HEABC and the government have nothing to offer: No response to a wage demand. No response to repeated requests for costing on budget saving measures, including reorganizations and wellness programs. No agreement to proposals to reduce the risks to patients and health care professionals, who currently do not have sufficient sleeping hours free from call.
Government has imposed a -cooperative gains" mandate for bargaining in the public sector. That mandate has allowed for modest wage increase in many agreements. The people who deliver the critical health care services British Columbians count on deserve to be treated fairly and equitably. Thats not whats happening. And we need your strong support for a strike vote to tell the government thats not good enough. Health science professionals deserve to be treated with fairness and respect.

Strike vote meetings
- This list is being updated regularly - more meetings will be added as they are confirmed
- A ballot box is also available at the HSA office in Vancouver at 300 - 5118 Joyce Street during office hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. November 9 and November 13 - 16. Advance polls may also be available at some sites. Contact your HSA steward for information.
- Mail ballots must be received in the HSA office by November 16. Mail ballots post-marked by November 9 will be accepted. Members who have not been able to post-mark ballots by November 9 may contact the HSA office for assistance in returning their ballot to the office by November 16.
- Results of the vote will be released the week of November 19.
