May Day events planned for Vancouver, Prince George, and Penticton

Vancouver - May 1:

The celebration will run through the afternoon and evening.

  • 4 p.m. Speakers and performances
  • 6 p.m. Jim Sinclair, President, and Irene Lanzinger, Secretary Treasurer, from the BC Federation of Labour
  • 6:15 p.m. March from the Art Galley to W2
  • 7:30 p.m. Mayworks Festival kick-off at 11 W Hastings.

    Prince George - May 1:

     

    The 3rd Annual May Day celebration in the Prince George / Mackenzie region will feature a banquet and other activities on Tuesday, May 1, at 5:30pm at the Coast Inn of the North in Prince George.The BC Federation of Labour, Vancovuer and District Labour Council and Occupy Vancouver are celebrating May Day, the International Day of the Worker May 1.

    The event is organized and hosted by the May Day Organizing Committee, which is made up of volunteers who belong to a variety of trade unions and community organizations in the region.

    This year, the celebration will consist of a banquet with a full course dinner, presentations on issues facing workers and communities today, labour songs, and messages from participating unions and community organizations.

  • Penticton - May 5:

    The South Okanagan Boundary Labour Council (SOBLC) will be hosting its annual May Day (International Workers Day) celebration in Penticton on May.

    The event will be at the City of Pentictons Gyro Park, from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday May 5th, and will feature guest speakers as well as local musicians, childrens activities, affiliated unions and community non-profit booths, and political parties will be invited to also have a booth.
