Mikela Fong acclaimed as Region 7 director

Mikela Fong has been acclaimed to represent HSA members in Region 7 on the HSA Board of Directors.

A mental health clinician working at Surrey Pretrial Services Centre, Fong has been involved in the union as a steward and constituency liaison. Elected as a member-at-large at a regional meeting held during the April 2025 convention, Fong was appointed to the union’s Occupational Health and Safety standing committee.

Fong assumes the position on the union’s 11-member Board of Directors immediately. The term expires at the conclusion of the 2027 HSA Convention.

Fong was acclaimed after the deadline for nominations passed with no further nominations. The vacancy was created when former Region 7 Director Sarah Kooner was elected HSA President April 11.

HSA Region 7 includes HSA members at worksites throughout the Fraser Valley from Surrey to Hope.
