Municipal Election Issues & Campaign Strategies Workshop

HSA is offering Political Action Fund support for members to attend a Municipal Election Issues & Campaign Strategies workshop being offered by the Canadian Labour Congress.

Dates:  January 16-21, 2011
Location:  CLC Winter School, Harrison Hot Springs

This workshop will discuss basic campaign fundamentals, messaging and communications, campaign tactics, media relations, and the process of creating a campaign plan.  These skills can be applied to internal union campaigns, issue-based campaigns, and election campaigns.

BC will hold province-wide elections in November 2011 for mayors, municipal councillors, Regional District directors and school board trustees.  This workshop will be of particular interest to HSA members who are considering running for office in these elections, or who will be taking on a senior position in a municipal election campaign.

HSA will provide financial support for a limited number of applicants to attend this campaign school, in accordance with HSAs financial policies governing member education.   An application for financial support is attached, and is also available on HSAs website.  Applications should be sent to Pattie McCormack at the HSA office as soon as possible, and no later than Wednesday, December 8, 2010.
