Municipal Pension Plan seminars scheduled for HSA members
The Municipal Pension Plan has scheduled seminars for HSA members as follows:
• Tuesday, September 20: Victoria
• Thursday, September 22: Chilliwack
• Thursday, September 22: Prince George
• Tuesday, September 27: Burnaby
• Thursday, September 29: Vancouver
• Thursday, September 29: Kelowna
• Monday, October 3: Nelson
• Wednesday, October 5: Nanaimo
• Thursday, October 20: Richmond
• Thursday, October 27: Cranbrook
• Tuesday, November 1: North Vancouver
• Wednesday, November 9: Langley
• Tuesday, November 15: Kamloops
• Monday, November 28: Campbell River
Two seminars will be offered at each location, with one geared to new and mid-career members, and the other geared to members nearing retirement.
4:30 ... 6 p.m. Your Pension, Your Future seminar provides information for new and mid-career members. This seminar will provide information to help you understand your pension plan, and the options your plan affords you for the future.
7 ... 9 p.m. Thinking About Retiring seminar provides great information for members nearing retirement, reviewing members options and information about how to successfully transition into retired life.
All plan members are welcome to attend, including those receiving long-term disability (LTD) benefits. Members attending the seminars are invited to a buffet dinner from 6:00 ... 7:00 pm on the day of the seminar. No wage replacement or expense reimbursement is available for attending these seminars.
MPP recommends that you bring your most recent Members' Benefit Statement to the seminars and there will be a sample statement in the handout material as well. The instructor will go over the statement during the presentations but it is helpful to have your own information available. Once you have registered for the pension seminar, you will receive a confirmation email from HSA. This email will include contact information from MPP to obtain your pension statement.
On-line registration is now available for these seminars. To register, first go to the HSA website at www.hsabc.org and log in, then click on Member Services, and then Event Registration. All seminars are listed in date order, please select the seminar in your city and note the closing date of registration under Registration Status.
