NBA Provincial Bargaining Committee Begins Drafting Proposals
The Nurses’ Bargaining Association (NBA) Provincial Bargaining Committee convened for an intensive three-day meeting last week, marking the official start of the proposal development process for the upcoming round of collective bargaining. Committee members held in-depth discussions to formulate proposals that address the key priorities and concerns of NBA members. The proposals are being carefully crafted to reflect the extensive input that union members have provided.
This gathering is the first in a series of scheduled meetings the committee has planned over the summer.

Public sector workers to take strike vote
The BC General Employees Union (BCGEU) says more than 34,000 of its members will hold a strike vote in the coming weeks after today’s announcement that negotiations with the provincial government have reached an impasse. BCGEU President Paul Finch told media that the parties are simply too far apart on priority issues, especially wages. The government has offered increases of 1.5% and 2%, while the union is seeking 4% and 4.5% plus cost-of-living adjustments. The union began bargaining in January and has been without a contract since the end of March. The strike vote is expected to begin mid-August.
