Nominations open for HSA president

HSA’s 2021 50th annual convention will include an election for the position of president. The two-year term begins at the adjournment of the 2021 convention, set for June 2 to 4, 2021 online.
 
The president is elected by delegates to the union’s annual convention in odd-numbered years.
 
The president is HSA’s senior elected officer, and acts as the CEO of the union, overseeing the union’s day to day operations, including staffing and budget management. The president is the union’s primary spokesperson and ensures that the policies and decisions of annual conventions and the board of directors are carried out.
 
The president is required to work in the position on a full-time basis and shall receive salary and benefits as approved by the board of directors and reported to annual convention. The union’s office is located in New Westminster, BC.
 
Nominations for president are open until the final call for nominations takes place on the last day of convention Friday, June 4, 2021.
 
As prescribed by the union’s constitution, members in good standing are eligible to run for president when nominated in writing by six members.
 
Candidates for president may submit a statement of up to 400 words and a photograph for inclusion in the union’s annual report, circulated electronically to members prior to the convention.
 
The deadline for material to be included in the annual report is Thursday, April 1, 2021.
