Nominations Opening for David Bland Award 2025

The David Bland Award nominations will be opening on January 3rd, 2025.

The David Bland Memorial Award is awarded annually to an HSA member who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the area of occupational health and safety and who has made a meaningful difference in the lives of their fellow HSA members.

The award was established by HSA's board of directors to honor HSA member David Bland, a vocational counsellor at Richmond Mental Health who was killed at his workplace by a former client.

Many incidents of workplace violence are preventable. David Bland’s tragic death is reminder that more needs to be done to stop workplace violence, injuries, and accidents from occurring. The memorial award is an opportunity to celebrate an HSA member who has championed positive change in occupational health and safety practices in their workplace.

Nominations will be reviewed by HSA's Occupational Health and Safety Committee and the recipient will be announced at HSA's 2025 Annual Convention in April.
