Pension seminars for all Plan members

The Municipal Pension Plan continues to offer pension seminars to plan members. 

Plan members have a choice of two seminars:

Your Pension, Your Future is aimed towards new and mid-career plan members.  In this seminar, the emphasis is on the value of plan membership, explaining pension benefits and helping members understand how decisions they make today can impact their future pension income.  Members will learn how to read their Member's Benefit Statement and find out ways to make the most of their future pension.

The seminar Thinking About Retiring is just that - designed for members within five years of retirement. This seminar covers topics including choosing the best pension option and what to consider when determining retirement income.  The retirement process will also be addressed, and members will learn how to track what needs to be done before they retire.

In both seminars, online resources and tools available to help members plan for their future will be demonstrated.  All plan members, including those receiving Long Term Disability are welcome to attend.  Your Pension, Your Future is one and one-half hours in length and Thinking About Retiring is two hours in length.  There is no charge to attend either seminar.

This summer marked the launch of a new system that will allow members register for pension seminars online through their website at mpp.pensions.ca. This new tool will allow members to register easily and save valuable time.  Members will be able to sign up for seminars, track their registration through the website, and receive instant confirmation by e-mail, including date, time and location.  Any changes you make will immediately show up online.  You can view course availability and your registration in real time.

Members will be able to access the new registration in two ways:

• Log in with your My Account ID.  If you have not yet logged in to My Account, your temporary account information can be found on your most recent Member's Benefit Statement.
• If you are a new member and have not yet received a Member's Benefit Statement, you can sign up for a seminar through the Tools page.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and some venues fill up quickly so it is important to register as early as possible.
