All members must submit resolutions to the convention through their chapters.  Once endorsed by the chapter, resolutions are sent to the HSA office for inclusion in the Annual Report, published in March, and mailed to all members.

For guidance in preparing resolutions, stewards and members may want to refer to the union website at www.hsabc.org and review resolutions from previous conventions. They can be found on the website under the publications / annual reports section. The resolutions are contained in the ‘business arising and ‘minutes documents.

All members are encouraged to attend their chapter meeting and participate in the unions democratic decision-making process. Check with your chief steward for meeting details.

4.  DELEGATE SELECTION & REGISTRATION

All HSA members are welcome to attend and speak at HSAs Annual Convention in Vancouver April 23-25, 2009, at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.   Only delegates, however, receive financial support to attend, and have the right to vote at convention.

For chapters with 49 or fewer members, the HSA chief steward is the sole delegate.  If the chief steward is not attending convention, an alternate should be identified.  Chapters with more than 49 members are entitled to one additional delegate for each additional 50 members or portion thereof.

Chapters electing delegates should hold delegate election meetings in time for delegates to register for convention by the March 18 deadline.  The date, time and location of delegate election meetings should be posted on union notice boards in time to provide sufficient notice for members to attend these meetings.

Delegates should fax their registration for convention to the HSA office at 604.439.0976 or toll free at 1.800.663.6119, attention Jaqui Hofman.
