Scholarships and Bursaries - Updates and Approaching Deadlines

HSA offers and provides access to scholarships and bursaries to all members and their children throughout the year.  Please note below the announcement of a new scholarship, a reminder of approaching deadlines, and a reminder of an open call for an HSA scholarship.

*New* CLC/UWCC POST-SECONDARY SCHOLARSHIP

Through HSA's affiliation with the CLC members are eligible to apply for the CLC/UWCC Post-Secondary Scholarship. Young workers today are facing many social and workplace issues. However, many have taken these challenges as an opportunity to create positive change, and impact their communities for the better. This scholarship is offered in recognition of the efforts and commitment of young workers across Canada who have demonstrated commitment to positively impacting social and workplace issues in their community.

This scholarship is in the amount of $2,500 to support a young activist who is starting their first year of full-time post-secondary studies in September 2017.

*Approaching Deadlines* for NUPGE SCHOLARSHIPS

HSA is an affiliate member of the National Union of Public and General Employees, and that means HSA members and their families are eligible to apply for a number of NUPGE scholarships -- the new Brian Fudge Memorial Scholarship ($1500), the Tommy Douglas Scholarship ($1500), the Terry Fox Memorial Scholarship ($1500), the Scholarship for Aboriginal Canadians ($1500) and the Scholarship for Visible Minorities ($1500).

*Reminder* MADDEN MEMORIAL FUND

HSA’s Madden Memorial Fund is open to members to fund approved labour educational courses in labour relations, occupational health and safety, human rights and leadership skills throughout the yearProfessional development courses are not eligible for Madden Memorial funding.  The Madden Memorial Fund application form is available on the HSA website at Member Benefits/Scholarships and Bursaries.
