Supervisors in the Union Workshop

Supervisors in the Union (two days)
HSA is unique in terms of the number of supervisors who are included in the union. Supervisors were some of the founding members of HSA when the Union was first organized. This workshop is HSA’s invitation for supervisors to come and teach each other how to work together as members and as supervisors, as well as with stewards. This class will be offered twice – please register foronly one on either of the following dates:

DATE:             May 8 and 9, 2023, 
                          June 5 and 6, 2023
TIME:               9 am to 4:30 pm workshop, one hour for lunch
LOCATION:   HSA Office,180 East Columbia Street, New Westminster

HSA Supervisors will have a better understanding of:

  • how to understand the interplay between their role as a member and as a supervisor
  • the issues surrounding supervisors who are stewards
  • how stewards and supervisors work with each other
  • the roles of the union representative and supervisor in grievances
  • the role of a supervisor in OH&S investigations

The goal of this workshop is to offer concrete support to HSA supervisors and to promote cooperation amongst all HSA members, no matter their position in the workplace.

This workshop is open to HSA members who work in supervisory roles.  Space is limited.

Participants will receive wage replacement, accommodations, travel, and pre-approved dependent care costs for virtual workshops in accordance with HSA Policy. Lunch is provided.
