Surgical and Critical Care Research Project: Invitation to Participate
HSA’s Surgical and Critical Care Research Project involves focus groups with anesthesia assistants, perfusionists, and respiratory therapists across the province. This research will culminate in a published HSA report discussing the important roles of anesthesia assistants, perfusionists, and respiratory therapists in public health care delivery.
As demand increases for surgical and critical care in the province, this project will centre the voices of HSA members and the critically important work you do for patients. The published report will support HSA’s advocacy and government relations efforts.
What does my participation involve?
Your participation would involve a discussion – with up to 18 fellow HSA members who work as anesthesia assistants, perfusionists, or respiratory therapists – of professional practice challenges, the impact of shortages, and opportunities to improve public health care services. Focus groups will be audio recorded, transcribed, and key themes arising from the discussion will form the basis of the published report. Anonymity will be maintained for all participants.
Will I receive wage replacement or accommodation?
No. This is a volunteer opportunity to contribute to our union’s advocacy. Wage replacement and accommodation are not provided. For members attending in-person, a catered dinner will be provided, and mileage/transit, parking, and dependent care costs may be claimed.
How can I participate?
