Thank you for election support
Penticton Western News
I want to take this moment to say a huge thanks to everyone who voted for me and my bid to be a Penticton School Trustee. My campaign was financed by a very small budget. Without the support of my union, Health Sciences Association, the Canadian Labour Congress, the South Okanagan Boundary Labour Council and the Penticton International Association of Firefighters, Local 1399, I could not have done as much as I did in my campaigning.
While I was not a successful candidate, I was able to raise important issues, such as fully-funded public education, no government funding to for-profit schools and the need to address the legislation violations regarding class size and composition. I might also have been the only candidate who recommended having a youth rep on the Board and I'll raise this at future board meetings.
Thanks, to all those who voted for me and who know that democracy is not a spectator sport.
