The time to speak up for paid sick days for all is now

Monday, October 25th is an important day to make the case for paid sick leave for all.

HSA members are invited to participate in a Covid-safe Day of Action at the provincial legislature in Victoria and at SkyTrain stations in Burnaby and Surrey to call on Premier John Horgan and the BC government to lead the country and enshrine 10 days of paid sick leave as a right for all workers.

HSA President Kane Tse will join the action in Surrey at the Surrey Central Skytrain station at 4 p.m.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us all that when workers are forced to go to work when they are sick, it’s bad for our health.

Monday, October 25th is the final day of the BC government's consultation on paid sick leave — and one last push to make the case for the 10 days paid sick leave British Columbians support.

British Columbians overwhelmingly support 10 days of employer-paid sick leave. New research shows 9 in 10 British Columbians support an employer-paid sick leave program. And 8 in 10 believe that program should cover 10 or more days.

If you're in Victoria, Burnaby or Surrey, you're invited to join the BC Federation of Labour at a COVID-safe Day of Action event.

Please let them know on Facebook if you are going so that organizers are able to keep the events safe.
