Update on Payment of Wage Increases

The Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSSBA) was recently made aware that some of our members have still not been paid the negotiated retroactive low wage redress and general wage increases. We have also been told that some employers have advised of significant delays in paying our members the negotiated wage increases.

The CSSBA did not agree to these delays, and we object to any significant delays to paying unionized employees negotiated increases, per the recently renewed sectoral collective agreements. It was our understanding when we negotiated a tentative agreement with significant wage increases that our members would be paid their retro within a reasonable time after ratification and that the wage increase for 2023 would start being paid in the first pay period following April 1st, as agreed to in collective bargaining.

The bargaining association is filing a sector-wide policy grievance on this issue. We will meet with the Community Social Services Employer’s Association (CSSEA) as soon as possible to resolve this matter.

Thank you for your continued patience and support.

In solidarity,
Community Social Services Bargaining Association
