Worksite preference website re-opened for 6-10 p.m. tonight, Monday March 20
**UPDATED MARCH 30 4 PM: WORKSITE PREFERENCE WEBSITE REOPENS TONIGHT 6-10 PM FOR EMPLOYEES WHO WERE UNABLE TO REGISTER OVER WEEKEND**
The Provincial Health Officer has ordered that movement between worksites by health care workers must be limited to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in the current pandemic.
Over the weekend, thousands of employees were able to register their preference on an online staffing registry at www.bchealthstaffing.ca . Some employees were unable to register, and the website will be reopened for a second window tonight, Monday March 30, from 6-10 p.m.
Under the Order, the Provincial Health Office has the right to assign employees to worksites, and worksite preference will be considered, but not guaranteed.
Even if you think you may be exempted, or your employer tells you you are exempted, it is in your best interest to register your worksite preference if you work at more than one site or are work at one site, and are on the casual list at other sites.
This includes health care workers who may be based in an acute care site, but provide services at two or more sites. Some health care workers may be exempted from this restriction to protect the integrity of patient care. Decisions about exemptions will be made by regional Medical Health Officers.
If you currently only work at one worksite, you do not need to do anything different at this time. You will continue to work at your normal worksite.
Thank you for your tireless work and commitment to your patients and residents in a time of such crisis.
