Young Workers Workshop – An Assertive Approach in Conflict Situations

Date: September 17, 2024
Time: 9:00 am – 4:30 pm, one hour for lunch
Location: Virtual via Zoom

This one-day online workshop is specifically for HSA young workers (members 35 and under).

When it comes to communicating with other people, everyone has their own personal skill set. And for most situations, it works just fine. This course will teach new skills for situations that are more challenging.

This workshop will clarify the differences between aggressive, passive, passive-aggressive and assertive communication. Participants will learn that an assertive approach is a mindset, not just a checklist of skills, and it requires specific communication skills.

Facilitated by Kerry Palmer, this workshop will help members develop effective communications and conflict-resolution skills in their day-to-day interactions with HSA colleagues and patients/clients. Communication is the cornerstone of a healthy, productive and engaging workforce, and as such, this course is an opportunity to build and enhance workplace/public engagement.
