Important Deadlines for HSPBA Bargaining Proposal Conference

There’s still time to submit bargaining proposals and run for election to the bargaining committee

With contracts expiring in the spring, HSA members are getting ready for the next round of bargaining, starting with a bargaining proposal conference for all members covered by Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association (HSPBA) collective agreement.
 
Delegates will come together in Burnaby on November 6 to 8 to prioritize bargaining proposals, and to elect members to serve on the bargaining committee.

October 11 Deadline for Submitting Bargaining Proposals

Throughout the fall, members of HSA worksite chapters have been gathering to discuss, propose and vote on the bargaining priorities that will be prioritized at the bargaining proposal conference in November. Once chapter meetings have decided on their proposals, stewards submit them to the union through the HSA Portal – instructions for that process are here.

October 12 Deadline for Registration of Delegates to the Bargaining Proposal Conference

Delegates to the November bargaining proposal conference are currently being elected at HSA’s annual Regional Meetings (to see a schedule, click here). Once elected, delegates must register to attend the November bargaining proposal conference; the deadline for this is October 12. You can register through HSA’s event management system. This is a firm deadline and we are unable to accommodate late registration.
 
All delegates are reminded to request time off work for the dates of the November bargaining proposal conference – if your employer denies your request, contact your HSA Labour Relations Officer right away for assistance in being released. Note that out of town delegates may have to plan to travel on November 5.
 
Once delegates are registered for the bargaining proposal conference, they should contact schartier [at] hsab.corg for details on scheduling transportation, accommodations and other logistics. All delegates will be welcome at 8:30 am on November 6 for registration and networking, and the conference will begin promptly at 9:00 am.

October 28 Deadline for Nominations for Bargaining Committee 

Any HSPBA member can stand for election to be part of the bargaining committee. If you’d like to run, you must submit a written nomination statement (maximum 300 words) to info [at] hsabc.org. All nominations will be circulated to bargaining proposal conference delegates gathering on November 6-8, and these delegates will be responsible for electing members to the bargaining committee. Deadline for written nominations is 5 pm, Monday, October 28. Members do not have to be a delegate to the bargaining proposal conference to put their name forward for election as a member of the bargaining committee.
