HSA welcomes Fraser Health Authority decision to drop privatized physiotherapy plan

Last November, rehabilitation therapists in the Fraser Health Authority were alarmed by the health authoritys announced plans to -partner" with private vendors to provide post-surgical physiotherapy. However, the FHA has recently abandoned those plans.

CSS joint union bargaining team calls on employer to bargain this week

The Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSSBA) is urging the employer group, the Community Social Services Employers Association (CSSEA), to commence bargaining on Thursday, May 13, 2010 in Richmond. The CSSBA expects the first meeting will entail establishing a protocol agreement and setting dates and locations for a full exchange of proposals for the Community Living Services and General Services collective agreements.

Important meeting for Fraser Valley HSA members in diagnostic imaging

HSA members working throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley received notice last month of a region-wide plan to consolidate diagnostic imaging services in the Lower Mainland. BC Health Coalition: Health Authority appointment raises serious concerns about governments commitment to defend Medicare

The BC Health Coalition is calling into question the provincial governments commitment to defend public health care in the courts in the wake of the recent appointment of Kip Woodward as chair of Vancouver Coastal Health ... the provinces second largest health authority. Mr. Woodward is a former Board member of the for-profit Cambie Surgery Centre and his family investment firm, Woodcorp Investments Ltd., is an investor in the controversial private clinic run by Dr. Brian Day.

Join HSAs Board of Directors at Day of Mourning ceremonies

On April 28 ... the National Day of Mourning for workers killed and injured on the job ...  HSA President Reid Johnson and the unions Board of Directors will place a wreath at a ceremony in downtown Vancouver. All workers and their families are invited to pay tribute to workers who have been injured or killed on the job, or stricken with occupational disease.

Health science professionals talks focus on principles for job evaluation review to reflect the modern health care team

The expiry of the 2006 ... 2010 Health Science Professionals collective agreement on March 31, 2010 was marked with continued discussion between the Health Science Professionals Bargaining Association and Health Employers Association of BC about the principles that will be used for a thoughtful discussion in negotiating a collective agreement that protects quality health care and values the work of health science professionals.
