NBA Bargaining Update: Housekeeping and Non-Monetary Issues

This month, the NBA Bargaining Committee has been back at the table with bargaining representatives from the Health Employers Association of BC (HEABC), exchanging article language proposals on housekeeping and non-monetary issues. In bargaining, “housekeeping” is a term that refers to changes that update the contract without changing it (for example, correcting spelling mistakes, or adding and removing punctuation), while non-monetary issues are those that don’t have an associated cost (for example, strengthening language that doesn’t occur a cost for the employer).
Giddha Withdraws From Region 7 Board of Directors Election

Please be advised that Jas Giddha has withdrawn as a candidate for HSA Board of Directors Region 7 representative. Two candidates remain for the election: Sarah Kooner and Sherry Lewis. An all candidates’ meeting is set for Thursday, February 2, 7-8 p.m. Online voting opens February 4 and continues to February 12.

By autumn, progress had been made on many items, but the government had dug in their heels on two key issues: bringing wages in line with other sectors and securing your benefits.
Second report on HSA JEDI work released

Three candidates declared in election for Region 7 representative on HSA board of directors; online voting open February 4-12

Three candidates have been nominated to represent HSA members who work in HSA Region 7 on the union’s board of directors. The three candidates in the election are Jas Giddha, Sarah Kooner, and Sherry Lewis. Candidates’ statements will be available in the coming days on the HSA website at https://hsabc.org/about/board-directors/board-directors-election-2023 Candidate statements will also be included with voting credentials to be sent to members by e-mail.
Jill Slind acclaimed as Region 5 representative on HSA Board of Directors

Jill Slind will represent HSA members in Region 5 on the HSA Board of Directors after the deadline for nominations passed with no further nominations.
A board member for the past two-year term, Slind has served on the Constitutional and Organizational Policies Committee, Elections Committee, Women’s Committee and the Resolutions Committee and Finance Committees. She also represents HSA on the employer side at the HSA staff bargaining table. Slind will begin the 2023-2025 term at the conclusion of the 2023 HSA Annual Convention, running April 19-21 in Vancouver.
