Election for HSA board member to be held in Region 7

During the next several weeks, HSA members in Region 7 will have an opportunity to elect their representative on the HSA Board of Directors. Nominations for the position closed on February 8, 2007 with two members declaring their candidacy:  Marg Beddis, a Dietitian at Surrey Memorial Hospital, and Audrey MacMillan, current Regional Director for Region 7 and a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with Chilliwack General Hospital.

Thalia Vesterback acclaimed as Region 9 Director

HSA members in Region 9 have acclaimed Thalia Vesterback as their representative to the HSA Board of Directors. She was acclaimed after the February 8th deadline passed with no further nominations.  Thalia is an ultrasound technologist who is currently supporting the computer system for diagnostic imaging in the Kootenay Boundary region.  She has been an HSA member since 1994. 

Register now for all-candidates' meetings in HSA election

The registration deadline is fast-approaching for attendance at the alll-candidates' meetings in HSA's election for a new president for the first time in 14 years, as Cindy Stewart has announced she will not be seeking re-election.  A series of three all-candidates' meetings to give convention delegates an opportunity to meet the presidential candidates, hear their vision for the union and ask questions has been scheduled as follows:

Register by Feb. 16 for 'Conversation' in North Vancouver

The provincial government has announced the dates for the regional forums on health care. In North Vancouver, the forum will be held March 31 at the Lonsdale Quay Hotel, 123 Carrie Cates Court. Deadline for registration for the forum in North Vancouver is February 16. Health care professionals have been barred from participating in the public forums, but are encouraged to participate in 'professional forums.'  In North Vancouver, the 'professional' forum is scheduled for March 30.

All-candidate meetings set for March in HSA election for president

(first web-posted January 17, 2007) Delegates to the 2007 HSA Convention will elect a new union president for the first time in 14 years.  As this marks a major change in the leadership of the union, HSA will be holding a series of three all-candidate meetings to give chief stewards an opportunity to meet the presidential candidates, hear their vision for the union and ask questions.
