Nominations Now Open for HSA Board of Director Elections

 Nominations Now Open for HSA Board of Director Elections Nominations are now open for regional director elections in Regions 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10.  This is an excellent opportunity for members to contribute to the leadership of the union and to represent the interest of other members. HSA’s Board of Directors is comprised of 10 regional directors elected by members in the regions, and the president, who is elected every two years by delegates to the union’s convention.

Are you affected by precarious work – employment that is insecure, unprotected, lacking in regular work and/or benefits, and that cannot support a family?   Your union – Health Sciences Association of BC (HSA) -- , the Community Social Services Bargaining Association (CSSBA), and the Community Social Services Employers’ Association (CSSEA) are working together to study the extent of precarious work in your sector.  

HSPBA Bargaining Proposal deadline next Friday

HSA stewards are reminded that the deadline for receiving bargaining proposals from chapters is Friday, November 17, 2017.   If you have not yet scheduled a meeting to allow members to discuss and vote on proposals to be considered at the union’s Bargaining Proposal Conference in December, please schedule a meeting as soon as possible in order to be able to give members an opportunity to submit and vote on the priority for bargaining proposals.  

Community social service workers appreciation day

Ottawa (6 Nov. 2017) — November 6, 2017, is the 10th annual Community Social Service Workers Appreciation Day. This Appreciation Day was started by the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) to recognize the work done by community service workers. It’s an opportunity to recognize a group of workers whose work is crucial to the well-being of many Canadians.
