SHOULD YOU BE RECEIVING WWGS PAY? And what is WWGS pay anyway? Effective the first pay period after April 1, 2021, changes to classifications in the Health Science Professionals collective agreement provided increased pay for certain HSA members in more than 30 different health science professions when they work without general supervision (WWGS).   The professions with new WWGS classifications are:

Applications Now Open For New $3 Million Professional Development Fund

Funding can be applied to training between April 1, 2021 and August 31, 2022 Health Science Professional Bargaining Association members of Health Sciences Association are invited to apply for financial support from a new $3 million fund announced in June. The funding, provided by the BC Ministry of Health, is intended to support health science professionals looking to maintain and upgrade specialized training.

NUPGE 2021 Scholarship Opportunities For HSA Members

CHANGE OF APPLICATION DATE: NUPGE HAS EXTENDED THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS TO FRIDAY, AUGUST 13, 2021.  Every year, the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) awards national scholarships of $2,500 each. HSA is an affiliate of NUPGE. HSA members and their families may be eligible to apply for the NUPGE scholarships. 

HSA sets fall bargaining proposal conferences for members covered by public sector contracts

With collective agreements covering HSA members working under public sector contracts expiring in March 2022, the union’s Board of Directors has scheduled bargaining proposal conferences for the fall.

Allied Health Provincial Consultation Survey

Members,  The Ministry of Health has launched an Allied Health Provincial Consultation. As part of this consultation, the Ministry has developed an online survey to collect information from Health Science Professionals in seven focus areas: identity and recognition, workforce and practice optimization, leadership, education and training, recruitment, retention, and partnerships and collaboration.
